A Week At the Beach

This week happened to be the 49th annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Festival. Needless to say it was quite crowded. Sunday we arrived and did the typical unpacking and grocery shopping. Monday was spent on the beach getting sunburned. Tuesday was spent on the beach and on the pier. Wednesday it turned very windy so we hung out inside, ate at Frost Seafood in Salter Path and also played miniature golf at Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure. Thursday we shopped some and watched the fish come in at the Big Rock. Unfortunately, no blue marlin were boated but we did see some nice game fish. Our girls thought it was boring. Friday was cloudy, so we went to Fort Macon State Park, shopping again, more like window shopping. DH and I headed back over to the Big Rock landing and had the luck of seeing 4 blue marlins brought in for the day (2 of them being well over 500 pounds) as well as some dolphin (mahi mahi or dorado) fish and a yellow fin tuna. The 5th blue marlin came in very late and was the tournament winner at 613 lbs. When we returned, we had no power ACK!! So we went to the movies as a family to see Nancy Drew. Alas, it was early to bed, early to rise as we came home today to see DH's finished storage building and to finish up the powder room. Check out the progress pictures.
