LOVE - Day 10

LOVE IN THE BIBLE
According to the Concordance of my KJV Holy Bible, the topic of love is discussed 43 times; being lovely or desirable, 4 times; being a lover or one who loves, 7 times; and loving-kindness, 7 times.
Most of you have heard of Dr. James Dobson, most commonly known for his best selling book, Bringing Up Boys. "He is the founder and chairman of Focus on the Family, a nonprofit organization that produces his internationally syndicated radio programs, heard by more than 200 million people daily on over 4,200 radio stations." (from his biography) He has authored several books and he and his wife have been married for more than 40 years. His website for Focus on the Family focuses on parenting, entertainment, faith, life changes, social issues, and relationships and marriage. In fact, Dr. Dobson wrote a wonderful book (you might even use it as a coffee table book after you finish reading it) called Love for a Lifetime: Building a Marriage That Will Go the Distance.

I bought this book right after my husband and I got married. I love it! It is wonderfully written and gives lovely Bible verses and quotes based on the discussion. Let's remember some of them:

Love...always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perserveres.

1 Corinthians 13:6-7 NIV

~~~~~~~
What greater thing is there
for two human souls
than to feel that they are joined...
to strenghten each other...
to be at one with each other
in silent, unspeakable memories.
~ George Eliot
~~~~~~~

Matrimony...

offers the most fulfilling human relationship possible,

~ Author Unknown

~~~~~~~
There is no more lovely,
friendly or charming
relationship, communion, or company
than a good marriage.
~ Martin Luther
~~~~~~~

This intimate union, two becoming "one flesh" (Genesis 2:24),

is both the symbol and the fruit of genuine,

heartfelt romantic love between a husband and a wife.

~Dr. James Dobson

~~~~~~~
A happy marriage is the union of two good forgivers.
~Robert Qullen
~~~~~~~

Live a life of love, just as Christ loved us.

~Ephesians 5:2 NIV

~~~~~~~
And this is my prayer:
that your love may abound more and more
in knowledge and depth of insight,
so that you may be able to discern
what is best and may be pure and blameless
until the day of Christ.
~Philippians 1:9-10 NIV
I love all of the thought and time you have put into this post. It is really good. I like Dr. Dobson's books though I have never read this one.
