to the big city and without her mom. This morning my "little girl" left for the Big Apple to perform with the National Anthem Project initiated by First Lady Laura Bush. Now she is super excited and I am excited for her but as a mom, I am nervous, too. I called her a short while ago and she said "mom, we are only 5 minutes away from school!! But we had chicken biscuits from Chik-fil-a while we waited to leave!!" Ahhh, the simple things in life. She promised to call when they stopped for lunch. Since she has a new cell phone, I am sure we will keep in touch quite often over the next few days. They will take in Broadway shows (The Lion King and SpamALot) while they are there and perform Sat and Sunday. Saturday night, they will actually perform the National Anthem at Ground Zero. I get choked up just thinking about that. Can you imagine?????? And Sunday they will be performing a multitude of songs including the National Anthem at one of the performing arts houses. As I said.....she is off....spreading her wings!
